Just got back
from a week-long camping trip with Aaron. We went to the Great Sand Dunes, Mesa Verde, Lake Powell, and the Grand Canyon. Every single place was beautiful, even more so because I was accompanied by such an amazing person. I can't say that it was stress-free, that I was always a pleasant person, or that I didn't often wake up thinking "somebody just club me to death with this flashlight." However, I can say that I came to love and understand Aaron a little bit more with every day. It's been just about a year since we first met, and the depth of that man's love and understanding is still a surprise to me at times.
Yesterday, after we had been together non-stop for over a week, I reluctantly kissed him goodbye and headed home to try to unpack and give him some alone time. But after only a few hours away, I found myself driving back to his open arms. I just can't stand to be away from him. And I've never had a better birthday dinner than the one we made from cans of left-over baked beans and quesadillas, while dancing drunkenly in the kitchen.

It's been a while
since I've had the time or creative energy to post. Truthfully, I just don't have anything to whine about. No angst, ennui, or sorrow to stimulate those writing juices. Life is great on most days, and not bad on any day. But, I realize it would be a shame if I didn't at least state these facts for the record. Years from now, I don't want to look back on this blog and think that they were all bad days.
Ever since I moved back to Colorado, life has been spectacular. I am in love with a boy who loves me back, and is so perfect for me it's scary. We both have our problems, but there is such potential in this relationship that we are committed to working through them. There is something special here: I've never met anyone that makes me feel so happy and (dare I say it?) complete.
Amazingly, my career path also seems to be working out. I found a job at just about the right time (before I stopped getting paid by Texas but after I had the whole summer to play), and it was almost exactly what I had said I was looking for (putting round pegs in round holes). I've had several months of brainless "recovery" and just when I was starting to get bored with my current position, I was promoted to something that will be much more challenging. I will start my new position in February, and within a couple of years I should have a better idea of what I actually want to be "when I grow up," plus a strong enough resume to maybe make it happen.
So, 2009 ended and 2010 is off to a good start. Other things I expect 2010 to bring:
1) Smaller clothes to fit a smaller me
2) New camping/hiking gear to see the Grand Canyon and hike more 14ers
3) Less debt which will eventually lead to more savings which will eventually lead to more traveling
4) A new roommate?
5) More time with friends...(I've been bad about that)
6) More time volunteering
All in all...I am happy right now and enjoying every minute of life. Have I mentioned how glad I am to be out of Texas?
